We saw her right after her birth in September: Zoe, our second grandchild, sister to Zach. I envy grandparents who live closer to their grandchildren. Mine are across the country in Portland, Oregon. For Zach, I went over the top in his first grandma-garment and made a Corn Cob Baby Bunting. That was a lot of fun for me, not particularly useable for his parents.
This time I was more practical. Zoe’s first sweater--not counting the hat and bootees—
was made cuff-to-cuff, a new
technique for me. I'd found the pattern on line at Rae's Knitting Page. Rae herself was very helpful in answering a gauge-question for me. It's quite adaptable to different yarns; (On March 29, I posted the same pattern using Peace Fleece worsted for Zoe's second sweater.)The yarn, “2nd Time Around,” is 75% recycled cotton, 25 %acrylic, from Knit One, Crochet Two. Because the local yarn shop required that a purchase of 12 skeins for a special order, I may never use it up. (A shrug started for myself, awaits fi
nishing.) Pink edging and flowers are Cascade Fixation Cotton with elastic.
A little large when Zoe was born, when we saw her again in March, it still fit though the body. And she has become a personality! Ron,
my husband takes our black and white and only with great restraint keeps me from using more of them.
